Ag in the Classroom celebrates National Ag Week by hosting special events and participating in Ag Day at the Capital. In 2018 we will be hosting two dinner events, hosting the inaugural Sacramento Farm Day, and recognizing the state winners of the 2017-2018 Imagine this... Story Writing Contest.
On Tuesday, March 20, The California Department of Food and Agriculture will partner with the California Women for Agriculture and the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom to host the state’s annual celebration of agriculture, California Ag Day at the Capitol. Ag Day is an annual event to recognize California’s agricultural community by showcasing the many crops and commodities that are produced in our state. It is also a day for farmers and ranchers to show their appreciation by bringing together state legislators, government leaders and the public for agricultural education. The event is open to the public from 11:30am to 1:30pm and takes place on the West Steps of the California State Capitol Grounds.
On Tuesday, March 20, we will be honoring the winners of the 2017-2018 Imagine this... Story Writing Contest. Student authors will read their stories, high school artists will reveal their artwork, and copies of the new "Imagine this... Stories Inspired by Agriculture" book will be released. The ceremony will be held at 2:00pm, location TBD.
