The Foundation is currently accepting nominations and applications for outstanding educators who are using agriculture in their classroom in exciting ways! Do you, or someone you know, use unique and innovative approaches to advancing agriculture literacy in your classroom? Are you aware of interesting concepts and teaching methods for meeting state academic content standards using agriculture as a theme? If so, we want to hear from you! Award includes cash prize and expense-paid trip to National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference in Costa Mesa, CA, June 2008.
Teacher Resource Guide CD Evaluation
Did you choose the CD format of the Teacher Resource Guide? What is good and what can be better? We're planning upgrades to the 2008 edition of the CD now. Fill out an online evaluation to get your suggestions heard. The first nine respondents will receive gift sets including postcards, pencils, a water bottle, and much more. Your feedback makes a difference!
Resource Recommendations Requested
Do you know of a book, field trip, or Web site that could be a valuable resource for teaching or learning about agriculture? Submit a recommendation to have it reviewed and considered for inclusion in the Teacher Resource Guide or other CFAITC publication.
State Fair Farm Camp

Want to know what it's like to live and work on a real working farm? The Demonstration Farm at the State Fair is opening its doors and offering kids aged 6-12 the chance to see first-hand what California farm life is all about. Kids can enjoy hands-on agricultural activities, crafts, stories around the campfire, and a Texas BBQ for supper. The cost is $20 per child (not including admission to the Fair or parking). For an additional $10, children can stay overnight in tents. Continental breakfast is included. Parents or guardians can experience the fun with their children at either event at the same price.

Teach Beef Newsletter
Volume 1, issue 2 of this new biannual newsletter is now available. In this issue, the California Beef Council challenges educators to incorporate agriculture education, including beef, into their classrooms. Featured resources include Things We Can Learn From a Cow and a Worm teaching kit and Wow that Cow brochure, Web sites, and a fun fact.

Disney Minnie Grant
Deadline: Aug. 30, 2007
The Walt Disney Company and Youth Service America are offering grants of up to $500 to support youth-led service projects. Youth (ages 5-14) must participate in planning and implementing the service project in their community. Themes include the environment, disaster relief, public health and awareness, community education, hunger, literacy, or any issue that youth identify as a community need. Projects must take place Oct. 1-Nov. 26, 2007.
