GMO Case Study
The GMO Case Study can be used as a supplemental activity to secondary lessons on genetics, genetically modified organisms (GMO's), and other science and biology topics. You will learn about the genetically modified Rainbow Papaya in Hawaii which was engineered to resist a virus that has heavily impacted papaya crops across the globe. The goal of this case study is to discuss the issues surrounding the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in agriculture. Students will benefit from learning the perspectives and views of people in many roles including papaya farmers, scientists, organic farmers, FDA regulators, and more.
