AITC Taste and Teach Grant

California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom
National Agriculture in the Classroom

Fifty teachers will receive an AITC Taste and Teach grant that includes a binder filled with resources and lessons for the 6-months of November through April with each month focused on in-season commodities for those months. Each awardee will receive a $60 gift card to purchase those commodities so that students can taste then while learning about them. Teachers must conduct a pre-test with their students prior to receiving the materials and a post-test upon conclusion of the grant.

The application period is now closed.

With funding from National Agriculture in the Classroom Organization, California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom is offering an opportunity for you to Taste and Teach. Fifty Selected teachers will receive a $60 gift card to purchase featured California-grown commodities (fruits, vegetables and nuts!) each month beginning in November and ending in April. Participants will also receive a binder full of helpful resources, including instructions on how to lead students in a taste test while meeting California Academic Standards. The program requires teachers to complete a pre- and post-test of their students' knowledge of agriculture. Helping students learn where their food and fiber comes from is a critical message! The Taste and Teach program can be a valuable part of your classroom. Grant applications for the 2021-222 program are open through Monday, October 11.
